Getting married in Barbados is very easy.

There is no waiting period or minimum length of stay to get married in Barbados. All you need are the following documents to be produced by both the Bride and Groom at the Ministry of Home Affairs, that we arrange for you upon your arrival in the island:

  • Valid Passports or the original or certified copies of birth certificates
  • If either party was divorced, an original Decree Absolute or a certified copy of The Final Judgement.
  • If either party was previously married and widowed, a Certified cBarbados requirements for Marriageopy of the Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate in respect of the deceased spouse.
  • Where necessary, all documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.
  • Fees included in all Wedding Experiences.

If the Bride and Groom decide that they want to get married in a church, the couple needs a written confirmation from their priest that they are both practicing Christians and have participated in pre-marital counselling.
Roman Catholic weddings arranged by special request.
If you are requesting a Roman Catholic Church wedding these are the requirements needed:

  • Parties must be interviewed by their Parish Priest in the home Diocese of the Catholic party. It is he who will undertake the necessary investigations, obtain a dispensation if required and provide information about participation in a pre-marriage preparation programme. Your Parish Priest will then forward the relevant papers to his Diocesan Chancery. The chancery should then send them well in advance, to the Diocesan office in Barbados.
  • Marriages may not be celebrated on Holy Saturday or other than in a church.
  • A Barbados Marriage License is also required, and can be obtained form the Ministry of Home Affairs in Barbados

We book all of the wedding vendors that you require for your wedding, and make sure that all of their payments and deposits are met with no complications.   We are also willing to assist with following up on wedding details, even if they are not booked through Weddings By Malissa should you so desire.  In these instances we are not liable and do not accept responsibility for services not booked through us.

You will be in constant contact with your wedding consultant, regarding details for your wedding.  We are responsible for answering all of your questions and following up on all of your inquiries.  On your arrival there will be constant meetings to make sure that all of your wedding details are perfect and finalized.

Regarding all of your legal documentation; a wedding consultant will escourt you to the Ministry of Home Affairs to assist in obtaining your Marriage License.  

Weddings By Malissa will prepare and set up the actual wedding venue(s), on the day of the wedding.  We will also oversee all the arrangements and make sure that all wedding vendors are set up properly.

Sometimes for large wedding parties you may want other activities arranged for your guests, such as, private sailing cruises, Island Safari Adventures, rehearsal dinners, beach bar-b-que dinners, etc….. Our team is very capable of handling this for you and your guests, so that everyone is having a good time here in Barbados.

In this package you get the chance to plan and organize your own wedding using all of our services that Weddings By Malissa provides.  Each wedding done by Weddings By Malissa is different and very unique in their own way.

This package is best suited for couples on cruise ships who want to have a very quick and speedy wedding in beautiful Barbados by yourselves or with your closest friends and family. For cruise ship passengers, your driver will meet the wedding couple in the main terminal of the port, and drive you to the Ministry of Home Affairs where your wedding consultant will be awaiting your arrival. This package does not include any flowers and décor for the wedding ceremony, however these are optional at an additional cost and you can advise us on the Contact Us page if so desired. This is where the bride and groom hire Weddings By Malissa team to just handle the day of the wedding.  The bride and groom will have all wedding vendors booked through them selves and pay the vendors directly.  

Two weeks before the wedding, Weddings By Malissa team along with the couple will run through the wedding details and the couple will provide a list of vendors they have contracted for the wedding along with their contact information.

Once the wedding file has been handed over to the weddings by Malissa team a site visit will have to be done at the venues involved in the wedding, and directed as to where everything will be.

Weddings By Malissa team will also be required to do a timeline outlining the flow of events for the wedding day including all set up and break down timings.  

With this choice of package it allows the families of the bride and groom to still be involved in the wedding planning process and then on the day of the wedding be able to relax and have fun and enjoy the day that they helped to organize.

  1. Photographs: Digital pictures taken by a professional wedding photographer, with CD and album included.  These packages are  40, 75, 100 and 150 digital files and coffee table books printed with selected images.
  1. Videographer:  HD DVD videos with high light videos. (price will depend on how many hours)
  1. Decorations: All types of décor, e.g.: Table centerpieces, Draping, Lighting for your wedding venue, Candles, etc…….
  1. Flowers:  Bouquets, Buttonholes, Corsages, Hair Flowers, Flower Baskets with flower petals and plain Flower Petals.  You have a choice of tropical and imported flowers.
  1. Music: 5 piece Steel Band, Single Steel Pan Player, DJ to play any genre of music you want, a Band, Violinist, Pianist and a String Ensemble.
  1. Kids Entertainment:  There are Nannies available for babies and the children, Puppet Show, Cotton Candy, Face Painting, Games for the older children, Clowns, Video Games for all ages and story telling.
